Responsibilities

  • Identify and flag withdrawal, overdose, safeguarding, and other clinical risks requiring escalation or immediate action.
  • Develop actionable written clinical guidance for non-specialists, clearly explaining the rationale and referencing relevant standards or guidelines.
  • Compare and benchmark clinical assessments against peer input and published best practices to maintain consistency and rigor.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of post-certification experience working directly with adolescents affected by substance use.
  • Clinical specialty in addiction medicine or child and adolescent psychiatry or psychology with a primary focus on substance use disorders.
  • Active clinical license or professional registration in good standing.
  • Recent adolescent caseload experience within the past 2 years.
  • Proficiency with adolescent substance use screening and severity staging tools such as CRAFFT, S2BI, DSM-5, and ASAM criteria.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and risk assessment skills relating to adolescent substance use.
  • Ability to identify withdrawal, overdose, safeguarding, and other risks requiring escalation.
  • Familiarity with medication for opioid use disorder and withdrawal management protocols for patients under 18.
  • Research-standard written English proficiency.
  • Motivational interviewing training is preferred.
  • Adolescent inpatient or crisis experience is advantageous.
  • Experience developing clinical guidelines or publications related to youth substance use disorders is preferred.
