Responsibilities
- Review complex adolescent cases to assess sexual safety, child sexual exploitation, and child sexual abuse risks.
- Produce clear and defensible written safeguarding guidance suitable for non-specialist audiences.
- Apply recognized risk-assessment and safeguarding frameworks to evaluate urgency and determine appropriate interventions.
- Identify indicators of grooming, coercion, exploitation, and other safeguarding concerns within nuanced case details.
- Recommend appropriate protective actions and escalation pathways, including circumstances where mandatory reporting is warranted.
- Apply a trauma-informed approach while considering developmental stage, capacity, and consent factors in each assessment.
- Benchmark clinical and safeguarding judgments against peer standards and established protocols to maintain accuracy and reliability.

Requirements
- 3–5+ years of post-qualification experience in child safeguarding, adolescent protection, or a relevant clinical role.
- Specialist background in child protection, forensic child and adolescent psychiatry or psychology, or paediatric medicine with safeguarding responsibilities.
- Active clinical license or professional registration in good standing.
- Current or recent adolescent caseload or safeguarding practice within the past two years.
- Demonstrated expertise in child sexual exploitation and child sexual abuse risk assessment.
- Strong knowledge of mandatory-reporting requirements and safeguarding escalation procedures.
- Ability to identify indicators of grooming, coercion, exploitation, and other risks affecting children and adolescents.
- Strong skills in trauma-informed practice and professional safeguarding documentation.
- Ability to assess developmental, capacity, and consent considerations in complex adolescent scenarios.
- Exceptional written communication skills in research-grade English.
- Experience in a designated safeguarding or expert-witness capacity is preferred.
- Familiarity with Adverse Childhood Experiences and trauma frameworks is advantageous.
