Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
micro1 is engaging Senior Mechanical Design Engineers for a customer project involving complex CAD assembly exploration and AI advancement. Experts will analyze mechanical assemblies, formulate challenging design questions, validate answers directly from CAD models, review AI-generated outputs, and document edge cases and reasoning to help train next-generation AI systems. Responsibilities
- Analyze and dissect multi-part mechanical assemblies to identify critical design decisions, constraints, and potential failure points
- Formulate challenging technical questions that test real-world mechanical design judgment
- Validate and document exact answers directly from CAD models with clear traceability
- Review AI-generated outputs and identify inaccuracies or breakdowns in mechanical reasoning
- Suggest targeted improvements to AI-generated responses
- Flag ambiguous, trivial, or unanswerable questions and refine them for clarity and precision
- Document edge cases and sources of disagreement to maintain verifiability
- Communicate technical findings and reasoning clearly in written and verbal form

Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience creating and overseeing multi-part mechanical assemblies from concept
- Mastery of at least one major parametric CAD tool such as SolidWorks, Creo, NX, CATIA, Inventor, Fusion, Onshape, or Solid Edge
- Experience teaching, mentoring, leading design reviews, or coaching engineering teams
- Expertise in design intent, assembly reasoning, mechanisms, kinematics, GD&T, and tolerance judgment
- Background in industrial machinery and automation, robotics, automotive and heavy equipment, aerospace and defense, medical devices, consumer products, or tooling and fixture design
- Exceptional written English communication skills
- FreeCAD, advanced GD&T/tolerance analysis, or formal design review leadership is a bonus
