Senior FreeCAD Engineer
micro1 is engaging Senior FreeCAD Engineers to contribute expertise to a dynamic customer project focused on training next-generation AI systems. Engineers will create, modify, and validate detailed parametric CAD models, develop mechanical assemblies, apply GD&T and DFM principles, produce technical drawings, conduct engineering QA, and support CAD automation through Python scripting. No prior AI experience is required.

Responsibilities
- Create detailed parametric CAD models in FreeCAD according to specified project and engineering requirements.
- Modify and validate existing CAD models while maintaining model integrity and design intent.
- Develop and optimize mechanical assemblies using best practices in assembly design and component integration.
- Apply rigorous Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to mechanical designs.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to improve manufacturability and engineering quality.
- Generate clear and precise technical drawings for engineering review, manufacturing, and downstream processes.
- Prepare comprehensive engineering documentation supporting CAD models and assemblies.
- Conduct engineering QA reviews of CAD models and technical drawings.
- Identify, document, communicate, and help resolve modeling or specification issues.
- Use Python scripting where appropriate to automate repetitive or complex CAD modeling operations.
- Provide technical feedback regarding model accuracy, design intent, and potential process improvements.

Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical engineering, product design, industrial engineering, or a related field.
- Strong hands-on experience with parametric CAD modeling.
- Advanced proficiency in FreeCAD or an equivalent parametric CAD platform.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and engineering best practices.
- Practical knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
- Experience creating and optimizing mechanical assemblies.
- Demonstrated ability to produce comprehensive technical drawings and engineering documentation.
