Robotics Data Trainer

Responsibilities

• Operate a handheld UMI gripper device onsite in a San Francisco lab to perform repetitive manipulation tasks.
• Perform actions such as picking up objects, opening containers, and completing simple household tasks across varied objects and environments.
• Follow detailed written task instructions and collection protocols exactly to ensure consistent and reliable data capture for robot learning models.
• Reset physical environments between task attempts and prepare them for subsequent data collection.
• Verify the quality of each data submission before proceeding to the next task.
• Detect and clearly communicate hardware malfunctions, unclear instructions, compromised recordings, and other irregularities to the project lead.
• Maintain accuracy and consistency during extended periods of repetitive hands-on activity.
• Document observations, report issues, and suggest potential process improvements through written and verbal communication.
• Collaborate with project coordinators and fellow contributors to maintain smooth project execution and alignment with data collection protocols.

• Ability to work onsite in San Francisco.
• Demonstrated fine motor skills, dexterity, and precision when handling physical objects.
• Strong reliability, punctuality, and personal accountability.
• Comfort performing repetitive and physical hands-on tasks for extended periods.
• Sufficient physical stamina to maintain focus and consistency throughout participation windows.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow complex step-by-step instructions without deviation.
• Ability to quickly learn basic hardware interfaces.
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot minor technical or hardware issues.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for reporting issues, documenting observations, and interpreting instructions.
• Hands-on experience from warehouse, operations, gaming, gig work, student projects, or similar environments is valued.
• No previous robotics or AI experience is required.
