Responsibilities

  • Operate a handheld UMI gripper device onsite in a San Francisco lab to perform repetitive manipulation tasks.
  • Perform actions such as picking up objects, opening containers, and completing simple household tasks across varied objects and environments.
  • Follow detailed written task instructions and protocols exactly to ensure consistent and reliable data capture for robot learning models.
  • Reset physical environments between task attempts and prepare them for subsequent data collection.
  • Verify the quality of each data submission before proceeding to the next task.
  • Detect and clearly communicate hardware malfunctions, unclear instructions, compromised recordings, and other irregularities to the project lead.
  • Maintain high levels of accuracy and consistency throughout extended periods of repetitive hands-on activity.
  • Document observations, report issues, and suggest potential process improvements through written and verbal channels.
  • Collaborate with project coordinators and fellow contributors to ensure smooth execution and alignment with data collection protocols.
