Medical Coder
micro1 is engaging Medical Coders to apply outpatient coding expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Experts will annotate and review outpatient medical records, assign ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes, apply outpatient E&M leveling and coding conventions, and provide expert feedback on coding guidelines and edge cases. No prior AI experience is required.

Responsibilities
- Annotate and review outpatient medical records from physician offices, clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, and hospital outpatient encounters.
- Accurately assign ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes based on clinical documentation.
- Apply Evaluation & Management leveling to outpatient visits using official medical decision-making or total-time guidelines.
- Apply outpatient-specific coding conventions, including diagnosis coding guidelines, modifier usage, medical necessity, and diagnosis-to-procedure linking.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve ambiguities in clinical documentation.
- Provide expert feedback on coding guidelines and edge cases to improve project workflows and model understanding.

Requirements
- Active AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification is required.
- Comprehensive understanding of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems and outpatient E&M leveling guidelines.
- Hands-on experience coding in outpatient settings, including primary care, specialty clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, or outpatient hospital departments.
- Experience with diverse clinical documentation such as office visit notes, procedure notes, and operative reports.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent clarity and attention to detail.
- Access to up-to-date official ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding books and E&M guidelines.
