micro1 is engaging Manufacturing Design Engineers to contribute to a customer project focused on advanced mechanical design for manufacturing and AI training. Engineers will use FreeCAD or comparable parametric CAD platforms to design, document, validate, and refine production-ready mechanical components and assemblies. The role combines parametric 3D modeling, engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis, Design for Manufacturing, CAD quality assurance, and technical documentation.

Responsibilities
- Create detailed parametric 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies using FreeCAD or comparable software.
- Modify and refine existing CAD models according to technical and manufacturing requirements.
- Develop comprehensive engineering drawings suitable for manufacturing handoff.
- Apply GD&T principles, dimensional tolerances, and tolerance stack-up analysis to engineering drawings and models.
- Design mechanical components for manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, plastics, and injection molding.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing principles to improve production feasibility and design quality.
- Perform CAD validation and quality assurance reviews to verify dimensional accuracy and production readiness.
- Identify and correct modeling, documentation, or manufacturability issues.
- Prepare clear technical documentation and assembly instructions for use as AI training reference materials.
- Incorporate feedback from technical reviewers to improve CAD models, drawings, and supporting documentation.
- Contribute production-grade engineering expertise to next-generation AI training and evaluation.

Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience designing mechanical components for manufacturing environments.
- Strong proficiency with FreeCAD or a comparable parametric CAD platform.
- Experience with advanced parametric modeling, mechanical assemblies, and engineering drawing generation.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and practical tolerance analysis.
- Understanding of tolerance stack-ups and their impact on mechanical assemblies and manufacturing.
- Hands-on knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, plastics, or injection molding design considerations.
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to create production-grade CAD models and engineering drawings.
- Ability to validate CAD models against real-world manufacturability and production requirements.
- Experience performing CAD quality assurance and technical design reviews.
- Strong technical documentation skills with the ability to produce clear assembly and manufacturing instructions.
