Fire Dispatcher - Emergency Communications Specialist

Responsibilities

• Receive and analyze simulated or real-time emergency requests.
• Determine urgency and allocate appropriate resources based on established protocols.
• Prioritize incoming information from multiple communication channels.
• Apply triage skills to ensure timely and accurate routing of emergency requests.
• Use standardized checklists and dispatching scripts.
• Maintain procedural consistency and compliance with emergency dispatch best practices.
• Document scenario responses and communication flows in a clear, structured format.
• Create high-quality data to support AI system learning.
• Evaluate and critique protocols or automated responses generated by AI models.
• Suggest improvements to emergency dispatch protocols and AI-generated responses.
• Collaborate with project coordinators to meet quality standards and operational objectives.
• Provide concise feedback on the effectiveness and clarity of AI-generated communications.
• Contribute practical fire dispatch expertise to AI training and evaluation.
• Support improvements to operational procedures and emergency communication workflows.

Skills

Requirements

• Significant experience as a fire dispatcher, emergency communications specialist, or equivalent.
• Exceptional multitasking abilities.
• Ability to manage simultaneous requests through radio, phone, and digital platforms.
• Proficiency in applying, following, and interpreting standardized emergency protocols and checklists.
• APCO or NENA certification is preferred.
• Clear, concise, and professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Ability to make rapid and accurate prioritization decisions.
• Familiarity with emergency dispatch workflows and operational challenges.
• Experience contributing to training, evaluation, or improvement of operational procedures is a plus.
• Ability to provide clear and actionable feedback.
• Ability to work remotely.
• No prior AI experience is required.
