CAD Design Expert (Instructor)
micro1 is engaging CAD Design Experts to contribute to a customer's project focused on sophisticated multi-part assemblies and parametric modeling. Experts will apply their CAD expertise to help train next-generation AI systems by designing and analyzing assemblies, documenting design intent and DFM considerations, reviewing sample designs, and providing expert feedback. No prior AI experience is required.

Responsibilities
- Analyze product requirements and design robust, manufacturable multi-part assemblies using advanced parametric CAD tools
- Demonstrate design intent and assembly reasoning through architecture, component placement, and tolerance decisions
- Document design rationales, best practices, and DFM considerations for AI learning workflows
- Create, annotate, and optimize 3D models and assemblies using expert-level CAD methodologies
- Review and critique sample designs and provide detailed feedback on modeling strategies and design feasibility
- Collaborate asynchronously with the project team and clarify complex design decisions
- Contribute educational insights and mentoring content based on CAD expertise

Requirements
- 5+ years of professional CAD design experience
- Experience leading design decisions for complex assemblies, including architecture, mating strategies, tolerances, and DFM
- Mastery of a major parametric CAD package such as SolidWorks, Creo, NX, CATIA, Inventor, Fusion, Onshape, or Solid Edge
- Strong ability to articulate design logic, trade-offs, and assembly intent
- Experience mentoring, teaching, or enabling others in CAD design
- Recognized CAD credentials such as CSWE/CSWP, Autodesk Certified Instructor/Expert Elite, ASME GDTP, or SOLIDWORKS Champion are highly valued
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in remote and asynchronous professional environments
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality contributions
- Familiarity with FreeCAD is a plus
