Autodesk Inventor Specialist
micro1 is engaging Autodesk Inventor Specialists to contribute expertise to a customer project involving advanced mechanical design and parametric CAD modeling. Specialists will create, edit, and audit complex mechanical parts and assemblies, apply GD&T and Design for Manufacturability principles, interpret technical drawings, and document design decisions to support next-generation AI training. Strong Autodesk Inventor experience is directly transferable to FreeCAD, which is the primary software used for this project.

Responsibilities
- Develop fully parametric 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies based on detailed written briefs.
- Create robust parametric models using Autodesk Inventor or comparable mechanical CAD platforms.
- Edit and update existing CAD models to reflect revised technical and design requirements.
- Ensure model modifications preserve parametric behavior and follow professional CAD modeling practices.
- Audit CAD models for dimensional accuracy, tolerances, manufacturability, and compliance with design requirements.
- Identify and document gaps, inconsistencies, or technical issues discovered during model reviews.
- Create and interpret detailed technical drawings using ASME Y14.5 or equivalent GD&T standards.
- Apply Design for Manufacturability principles across injection molding, sheet metal, CNC machining, casting, and forging.
- Provide clear documentation and technical rationale for design decisions, model edits, and audits.
- Contribute high-quality mechanical design data and expertise to AI training initiatives.
- Communicate precise technical feedback and solution-oriented recommendations to project stakeholders.

Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on parametric CAD modeling experience for model editing assignments.
- Approximately 10+ years of experience may be required for complex model creation assignments.
- Strong expertise in Autodesk Inventor and professional parametric 3D modeling workflows.
- Experience with FreeCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or comparable parametric CAD platforms is highly relevant.
- Practical experience applying GD&T standards, including ASME Y14.5 or equivalent.
- Demonstrated Design for Manufacturability expertise across at least two to three manufacturing processes.
- Strong ability to create and interpret detailed mechanical and technical drawings.
- Experience managing assembly-level designs and complex mechanical systems, not only individual parts.
- Experience with reverse engineering workflows such as scan-to-CAD or point cloud-to-model reconstruction.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes including injection molding, sheet metal, CNC machining, casting, or forging.
- Familiarity with CAD automation or scripting using Python, iLogic, VBA, NX Open, or similar tools is advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, documentation ability, and written and verbal communication.
